Stabilisation of soils with lime offers the following benefits
- Reduction in moisture content
- Reduction in the plasticity of clays and production of a more friable and workable material.
- Increase in alkalinity to trigger cementitious reactions in pozzolanic materials.
Treatment with lime of even a clay soil of high plasticity will produce a friable material suitable for further treatment by the addition of cement, PFA or blast furnace slag. Such treatment will significantly increase the stability, impermeability, and load-bearing capacity of the subbase.
The KS series of mixers provide a robust, reliable method of thoroughly combining soils with the fine materials utilised in the stabilisation process.
